I LOVED photographing this couple in their unique, non-traditional wedding attire. Samm had been envisioning this all-black gothic style wedding dress and having Caz in a black suit for a while now. We had done a shoot together in the past (see Moab elopement HERE) but Samm had a creative vision that she really wanted to bring to life and I’m SO glad that we did it! The styling came together so perfectly with the black long-sleeved dress with lace sleeves, the black suit, green florals with touches of yellow and long brown and black ribbons, gold jewelry, and the couple’s amazing tattoos.

We started out at the State Capitol and ended our photo session at the Mary Madeleine Church. Both building has such beautiful architecture. The state capitol is made of stone walls with soft swirls throughout in a white color. It reminded me a bit of the movement of water, with soft blue colors, frozen in place and the neutral colors complemented the black wedding dress and suit so well. The overall vibe of the building had a bit of a church feel to it as well, and flowed nicely into part two of our shoot at the church.

For this shoot I combined black and white photography, double exposures, photos with soft blur, and movement as we wandered and explored the streets and buildings of downtown Salt Lake.
